Germany is jumping ahead of other countries in its plans to provide for its energy needs. With a goal of 45% of their energy produced by renewables by 2030, it leads everyone else. Read more at the Worldwatch Institute's site, here.

Germany's goals are enviable compared with the goals for renewable energy outlined in the bill on the floor in the US right now, but at least the US is taking a big step forward. As of now the bill is asking for a 15% renewable electricity standard nationwide by 2020. This would be a big improvement and help to push the states that are lagging behind in this area. Unfortunately some people want to see this standards lowered. That is why I am working with a coalition that is trying to convince Congress to stand strong on this point in the bill.
